TRICON ACADEMY, a Training division of Tri-Continental Limited, the authorised IBM Education Partner, felt the need to address the severe shortage of IT skills in the African IT market-place. Mrs. Joy Lwanga, the head of this training division says “Our vision is to empower Africa Business Partners and customers with knowledge and Skills on all IBM platforms including middleware, hardware and software. “All companies should take on the notion that skills development is the key to success in every organisation”.
Many of our African Business Partners provide First line support to large corporate customers and are required to administer highly complex IT infrastructure with little or no outside assistance. A high level of product knowledge and expertise is required in these environments. This is where Tricon Academy steps in to assist, building skills through skills transfer, class-room training and web-based training.
Tricon Academy runs both scheduled courses and customised on-demand (bespoke) high quality IT training all year round throughout Africa. Training and skills development adds value to each and every department in every company. The Academy set up training centres in Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda and Zimbabwe. The Training is spread out all over African and is not limited to
these countries.
The primary focus of the Academy is to provide training supporting certification on IBM hardware and software. Candidates sit for various authorised examinations set by IBM.
The Tricon Academy Exam Centres are set up in various African countries. We have one of the highest levels of turnover of students and certifications in Africa. A total of 180 Partners and Customers were trained and certified by Tricon Academy between July and December, 2006. More and more candidates continue to be trained and certified throughout year 2007.
Having highly trained staff opens up avenues for additional revenue and will reduce costs
